Frequently Asked Questions
That's very much possible and it's probably not a bug on the site. Depending on your device there are a varying amount of available text-to-speech languages. On some devices there are lots, on some others (usually mobile) there are fewer. If it's important that you get text-to-speech for your chosen language, we recommend that you look up how to install additional languages for your device (it will probably require a device restart after installation to work).
Because of the way Wikipedia is build, each location has to be added to HTD manually. The Wikipedia API allows showing specific sections, which is what HTD is doing, but the "History" section sadly doesn't correspond perfectly between locations. One location can have its "History" section as section #2, while another has it's as section #7. Please submit a request to add a location and we will add it as soon as possible!
No, to keep HTD a resource that many people can feel comfortable to use, we have chosen to circumvent any need to save information about our users. If you feel that ads are specifically targetting you, it's because another site has saved cookies on your device.
Because the information required to get the data from Wikipedia is different depending on language, and so is often the text we receive back as well, HTD has chosen to treat different languages for locations as different locations in "Favourites". If you're sure you're on the correct language, please see "Why have my favourites disappeared?" in the FAQ.
You may have changed device or browser, or even cleared data stored in your browser. To keep HTD slim and easy to use, it doesn't have a database where users store their choices. Instead, each time you 'favourite' a location, the location is saved in the browser on your device. A sort of in-device database that only you can see.
For the moment, Popular Choices is set statically by HTD, but the intention is to make it automatically update to reflect which locations our users tend to visit the most.
